The new year is a great time to reflect on how far you've come. 365 days is a long time and so much can be accomplished in that time. So today and next week we're taking a moment to remember the winter stitches from last year. Check out the first six from the throwback Thursday stitches:
Welcome 2015! It's been such a wonderful few weeks home with the entire family. Enjoying some time off from work and school, breaking open all of Pie's new gifts and testing them ALL out. The best part has been having some downtime to gather new ideas for more great things to come in this new year.

We're rolling right along this month and Christmas is NEXT WEEK! Seriously... One week away. ARE YOU READY? Sorry about that, we're a little excited over here. And maybe a little exhausted. Pie is on the edge of her seat waiting for the big man to come. Something tells me she won't be disappointed this year. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's drop the last set of Holiday Design stitches!
It's already week three of the holiday designs and we're rolling out another eight stitches. We're getting read to decorate our tree this week, I like to space out the getting of the tree and decorating it so that we can enjoy the tree itself. There's something majestic about a tree indoors, before it's covered in the lights and all that glitters. It gives it some time to open up and me some time to sort through the storage boxes. It also makes Pie a little crazy with anticipation, which is more for me than her. :X
The anticipation of this holiday is the best part! Looking forward to each day's countdown item, decorating, the parties, and eventually her gifts is what makes this month so very special. Today were sharing some ornament stitches and a few others we love.
Welcome to week two of Winter Stitches, Holiday Designs. We're so excited to be in the middle of the holiday season... and maybe completely exhausted already. It's been a whirlwind since Thanksgiving and there's no end in sight. With crafts, events, parties, and baking we barely have enough time to think. Luckily we've planned ahead and we've got plenty of awesome winter holiday designs for you.
We just love the holidays, the time spent together being our favorite part. We love the decorations, the colors, the atmosphere, and especially the food! If we could do away with the crowds and traffic, there's not much we don't love about the month of December. And we've got so many awesome stitches for you, they're posting by the bunches!
If you're an avid Short Stack reader, you may remember last year we received a custom order for a tree topper. It was created with felt and a custom design stitch, but also with hand sewn beading. We also added an adorable red ribbon bow embellishment. It was lined in gold tinsel and stands just about eight inches tall, a perfect size to stand out but not over take the top of the tree.
Right after it posted, we received another order for a tree topper to be used next year... Which is now this year, my this year has flown by. This topper order was for a custom stitch design, the three wise men, and similar color scheme to the previous topper. It turned out beautifully and we can't wait to see it on top of their tree.
We love tradition here at Short Stack Stitches. Especially when that means we get to be a part of someone's family holiday gifts! Last year, we received an order for Thanksgiving bibs for a few new family members. This year the family expanded so the new little addition needed her own thanksgiving dribble catcher too! In addition to her bib, the order was for two new designs for last years turkey gobblers.
We thought we had time for two more Fall stitch posts, but upon finishing up the Winter stitches we realized we simply don't have the time! Like all things holiday season, we're rushing through the end of the Fall to get to the holly jolly season. So starting next week, we'll be sharing our holiday stitches. Before we jump into the next holiday, let's finish up this season. Today we're sharing some trees, flowers, feathers and such:
They say that imitation is the most sincere for of flattery. This week we're sharing a baby blanket that may look similar to another we posted recently. When someone places a custom order, most of the time they have an idea in mind. We take those ideas and find some thing personal and unique. However, sometimes someone sees something they like and they want to recreate it in their own image. This was one of those times.
This order came in for a baby blanket using pinks and brown. We showed the client the most recently pink and brown blanket and asked what they'd change about it to make it their own. They loved the ultra plush fleece, even before they know how incredibly soft and fluffy it really was to touch. But they had some changes.
